the lack of Linux compatibility to play all games on Steam is literally the only reason why I'm still running Windows. proton is still not 100%

Linux only hope are game consoles. PC gaming will remain Windows for the foreseeable future. Every device manufacturer builds windows drivers first and updates them often. Linux is an afterthought.

I belive that the key to Linux gaming is getting the studios to offer native support and to get the studios Linux needs a more noob friendly community and have fewer main stream distros

Well I agree. But on the other side. There is no easy use Desktop GUI like Windows or MacOS. Especially easy Linux Distro Updates over GUI You literally have to do it by cmd Commands.No Klick o Touch!

Wasn't there some news not too long ago that Microsoft was trying to get into the Linux kernel developement? I seem to remember something about that and there was alot of rightful push back.

DirectX is the problem. So many devs refuse to use OpenGL and Vulkan. Even apples Metal api is good. But Nvidia is well optimised for DirectX and develpors refuse to anything else.

I don't need lot of games, so anything that works on steam is good enough for me. If there are no games anymore, no problem. But I will never go back to win.
