@hatsoptional: Biden pausing aid to Israel is not the same as what Trump was impeached for A number of republicans and conservatives are saying Biden should be impeached for doing the same thing Trump was impeached for - withholding aid approved by congress. The problem with their accusation is that Trump was not impeached for withholding foreign aid approved by congress. Trump was impeached for soliciting the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, in the 2020 presidential election. He asked Ukraine to falsely publically announce investigations of Biden that would benefit Trump's re-election. He tried to pressure Ukraine into taking those steps by conditioning aid on making the false announcement. Trump engaged in those actions for corrupt purposes in pursuit of personal political benefit. What Trump did wasn't at all similar to what Biden did. Biden temporarily withheld a portion of a shipment to get a change to policy. It's what the executive branch is SUPPOSED to do - to try to bring about changes in policy. What Trump was alleged to have done was for his own personal benefit. US presidents have always conditioned aid for promises in one way or another - it's not unusual at all. The people that are saying Biden did the same thing as Trump are obviously not trustworthy sources of information.
