Can we learn more about out the genes that prevent hypoxia at high elevations??? Curious to know what else intersects with that trait!

Small correction: there are over 800 languages spoken in Papua New Guinea. Moreover, that figure refers to not merely dialects but entirely distinct mutually unintelligible languages. It has the highest language diversity in the world because the unique geography of papau new guinea led to many groups being completely isolated from each other for hundreds and even thousands of years.

Is species a more useful term when describing close groups that no longer are genetically compatible?

I'd love know more about the genes that make you more hardy against hypoxia. The blonde hair thing being a completely different gene is also cool. Genetics be wild!

For the comment section: Islanders did not evolve separately. Unique Denisovan traits evolved 1.3 million years ago. People exactly like us had sex with them and kept only the best genes.
