Agreed Hiriketiya is so much nicer than Dickwella and Kandy is up and coming I think with hikes near by lots of history. X

A day trip in Kandy is great doing the spiral tower, botanical gardens, the traditional show in the evening and the tooth temple! Perfect for just before getting the train!

I loved Kandy ! We had a lovely guided tour of the Botanical Gardens. Temple of the Tooth is beautiful too. We also thought coming from Scotland ( been to Sri Lanka a few times) Kandy was nice to acclimatise to the weather. It’s also a nice scenic drive from Colombo
