@daveramsey: You could get a million dollar raise today, and it wouldn't impact your credit score one bit.   We as a culture just take it for granted that a high credit score means we’re doing great with money. It doesn’t. It just shows how much we enjoy being in debt.   Hear me clearly on this: The credit score is NOT a measure of winning financially. It is 100% based on debt. The credit, or FICO, score is simply an "I love debt" rating. No part of the credit score calculation even hints at how much wealth you have.   All a credit score represents is your relationship with debt. It's based on how many times you've borrowed money and paid it back, so you could borrow more money and pay that back, and continue to dive deeper and deeper into debt.   Chasing a high credit score is ridiculous. It makes the banks richer and richer and pushes you further and further away from your goals. It's time to stop playing the credit score game and take back YOUR money.   Pay off debt as fast as you can, and don't look back. You know what you'll have when you don't have payments?
