@jacobtempler: Politics in Morocco - Read Below 👇🏽 Morocco is unique politically in Africa as it’s one of the few systems that involves a monarch. As the most visited country in Africa, it’s worth understanding how things work. Morocco is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. The monarchy is one of the oldest in the world, dating back to the 17th century. The United Kingdom has the same system of government… in name. The monarch of the United Kingdom, King Charles III, holds zero power or authority over government actions. The monarch of Morocco, King Mohammed VI holds many powers, that include: - complete control of the armed forces - complete control of the judiciary - powers pertaining to state religion and foreign policy - the power to appoint or dismiss a Prime Minister Elected members of parliament operate the country and pass laws, with the King’s approval. Whatever opinions you do or do not have, it’s important to understand the government of a country to get a sense for how and why people there operate and think the way they do. Their expectations and views are largely shaped by the reality they grew up in - no different than our own. Would you want to see the King’s palace in Rabat?
