@nikitacauselove: I photographer a collection of rocks and minerals for my friend @Rob Cornelius. Labradorite is a mineral known for its iridescent optical effect. It consists of thin layers of different minerals, mainly feldspar (containing varying amounts of potassium, sodium, calcium, and/or lithium), stacked on top of each other. The layers within labradorite are very fine, often on the scale of wavelengths of visible light. As light waves bounce between these layers, they diffract and create constructive and destructive interference patterns. Constructive interference amplifies certain wavelengths of light, producing vivid colors. #rocks #minerals #labradorite #geologyrocks
