Has no one driven a manual? You pull the lever to go back to first, just like a reverse gear all the way to the right. He also literally does it....

Its not that hard to hit your gears and that would mostly be annoying to downshift especially in racing and if you build a reliable engine it should hold

For people in the comments not getting the demonstration. He makes sure his 1st gear once you shift out of it it’s locked so you can’t down shift to 1st but you can go 4 to 3 or 3-2 only 1st is locked
