@smilingpen: @SmilingPen🇨🇦🇳🇬🇹🇷 THIS ISN’T JUST A SPOKEN WORD PERFORMANCE, IT’S MY PAIN WRITTEN IN WORDS. This piece means so much to me, and it will live with me till my last breath. I remember crying my eyes out when I wrote it. It’s one of my purest feelings written in words. It’s 8months today that we lost Maryam. Sometimes we lose people who are very dear to us, we love them so much so that we get so furious and ângry at the same time, knowing fully well that we have questions that they won’t be able to answer. My pain gets more sour cause I never got the chance to see my sister before she said goodbye. To all those who knew me beyond the realm of social media, they will know how much Maryam meant and still means to me. Sometimes I do things out of my usuals, people often think it’s just a lifestyle, not knowing that I am just trying everything possible to outlive the pain and anger in me. Believe me, I am still very traumatized. Yes, you might think losing people is part of life, I agree. But you see this loss of my sister, it questioned my sanity and everything around me. I lost my Dad in 2021, I cried my eyes out and got wild with the pain, but the loss of my sister, thought me again what pain truly means. I guess I am too volatile and vulnerable cause I don’t know how to handle losses and the pain losing someone dear to me. My masculinity shouldn’t be questioned cause of my emotional depth in the heart, I am just a man who cares so much and loves from the deepest part of his heart. What makes it harder is the fact that, till date, I still have so many feelings that I bottled in that I am yet to share with anyone, not even with family. Because, in a world we live in, we are meant to be strong. To anyone like me out there, you are not crazy, you are not hallucinating, you are not delusional, you are human, a different breed who loves deeply, and cares so much for his family and environs. This poem is dedicated to everyone who has ever loved someone that means so much to them, stay strong, take your time to heal, don’t be pressured by the expectations of the society.
