@theoceanminded: Everyone talks about the “roommate phase” when you’re so deep in the newborn trenches that you and your partner lose sight of any romance and start to feel more like roommates than lovers. While it’s true you’re in survival mode, and can’t give your partner your full attention, there’s something about being in the trenches together with your favorite person at 3am that feels weirdly romantic. Having a newborn forces you to find joy in the mundane and romanticize the little things in life, like going for a walk or sneaking outside for 30 minutes to have wine + charcuterie by the fire after the baby goes to bed for the night.
