This is the second time this has happened to me in Gainesville. My GSD is now retired from protection work & I have been training my puppy (in this video) for the last year now in professional protection services. The homeless population here is (sadly) honestly insane and I often get cat called by belligerent men, day & night, so I can’t say I’m shocked that this happened but I haven’t had it go this far again in a while. As an individual, a lot has to happen for me to get nervous. But when he said that he needed my vehicle is when I really started to panic. There’s something not right in an individuals head if they continue to show this behavior with a dog like Viision with such a huge presence. Whether that be alcohol, drugs or some sort of mental impairment. I had been making a few funny/trendy TikToks with Viision while I pumped gas & I saw him banging on the window of another vehicle, so we were getting ready to put the gas pump up & leave, when he started asking me for money next, then my van. I always keep my door open with Viision in my seat when I’m pumping gas or right next to me. I’m extremely glad this deescalated because Vii is not even 2 yet & the last thing he needs as a baby mastiff is a live bite when he isn’t a finished dog. He really proved himself tonight regardless and I have never felt more thankful to have this dog by my side. I trust full heartedly that Viision would of performed, had the man made physcial contact with me. It’s insane that we live in a world where so many individuals live in fear because of shit like this. This is why I invested in such a high caliber dog and professional personal protection training for him. Thank god he was enough of a deterrent last night.
