Felt like a princess wearing this beautiful traditional hanfu dress 🎀🤍 Growing up, I often felt like an outsider. I was the only Asian kid at school, and people would make fun of my slanted eyes, they would imitate my language like «Ni hao Ching Chang Chong» and even the food I ate (I still remember when I was 22 yo, a teacher at business school told the whole class not to bring Chinese food because « it stinks »). It all set me apart, I felt so excluded and spent years wondering why I was born Asian, why I couldn’t just fit in. It sounds silly now, but at the time, I was just tired of being bullied for my ethnicity. But over time, I realized that being different is normal. It’s not a flaw. It’s just that the world is filled with close-minded and immature people. It took a lot of inner work, but I learned to love my culture, to see it as a strength rather than something to hide. I even used to avoid showing too much of my Chinese identity on social media, afraid of what others might say. This video marks a turning point for me. Wearing this beautiful hanfu for the first time, I’m not just putting on a traditional dress, I’m owning my identity, my heritage, my journey. I know that 4 years ago, I wouldn’t have had the courage to post this, too afraid of what people might think. But now? I couldn’t be more proud of where I come from and the path that led me here 🥹 If you’re also struggling to feel included, you’ve got this 🤍 know that you were never the problem, they were! If you’ve read all of this, you a real one haha love you and thank you for all the support hunnies💗💗
