@cspanofficial: Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday said the U.S. government has a responsibility to safeguard Americans from disinformation that could be spread through TikTok, calling it a different matter from other forms of misinformation because it’s owned by a China-based company. “The People’s Republic of China acts adversely to the interests of the United States in different ways. One of those ways is through the dissemination of disinformation,” he said. “TikTok is an extraordinary avenue through which to disseminate disinformation to millions and millions of people.” “It’s not, to me, an issue of the First Amendment. It’s an issue of security,” he argued.
