Anyone else suddenly want to give up their current career and take up school librarian?

Could you at some point show us what some of the most checked out books are in the last four years, I’m really curious to know what kids are reading these days! The kids in my family don’t really read

Who'd have thunk that I would be so invested in random school libraries doing some gardening? 😂

A book I got for free from a school library that no longer needed it has been with me for almost 20 years and is still on my shelf as an adult ❤️hope the kids find some good ones!

What do you do with them if the kiddos don’t take them from the free pile?

I always feel bad for the librarian that bought the books that have had zero checkouts. 😅

My kindergartener saw “Hats, Hats, Hats” and got so excited because she’s read it with her teacher 🥰

after removing some books, what is the current age of your library - I am wondering how much impact a couple books can have?

I’m a brand new librarian after 21 years in the classroom. I’m about to do my first little “gardening” next week during our last week of school. Can’t wait to see what I find!

Is there a limit to the amount of books that can be weeded?

I remember “Hats Hats Hats”! My primary school librarian read it and “Caps for sale”. Now I’m gonna go get them from thrift books for my nephew.

I always feel so bad for the books with little to no check outs 😔. Also the 2002 date makes more sense now too

Glad to have my theory confirmed 🥰 There were so many 2002 that I figured it was when the collection was digitized

It is wild that there was a book about the challenger disaster that came out the same year that it happened

Nonfiction is always so tricky for me and I end up leaving books on a table for arts and crafts projects because of the sometimes severely outdated information ✨

Gina :
The most important thing is to have children read. The book has to grab their attention, and if it doesn’t you have to make room for the things that will!
