as a lumber guy for home depot, I can't imagine FORCING customers to buy the moldy wood. We are taught that you place the slightly moldy on the cull(70% off) cart and fill the home location with good

Menards is better in every way, except their lumber. no mold but I dug through several dozen 4x4s just to find 4 that were acceptable

I bet the guy who went to ask his manager did not relay to the manager that the boards on the floor have mold on them. He probably said a customer wants me to pull down lumber from the top.

Work at Lowe’s, we will pull down a bunk of wood if they think the other ones aren’t straight enough, and if we find mold we get rid of the wood. Definitely a management issue specific to that Lowe’s.
