@yorkshire.fossils: Here is an ammonite rock that we found in a loose shale slab and opened up on the beach with our hammer! 🏝🌊 The surrounding shale is softer than the nodule and is easily broken away. Inside the nodule, some beautiful eleganticeras ammonites from the Jurassic 😍🦑 These ammonites are around 185 Million Years Old 💀 As well as this we are exposing a perfect Jurassic Belemnite (Squid-like creature) which was in soft shale 🦑🦑 This is the ‘Belemnite Guard’, which was the tough inner part of the belemnite 🏝 The soft tissue rarely preserved properly 🌎 Thank you in advance for supporting our page! 🐊 #natural #nature #fossil #fossils #ancient #animals #art #ammonite #ammonites #dinosaur #scientist #minerals #paleontology #whitby #geologist #dorset #geology #charmouth #jurassic #yorkshire #fyp
