@thats_inappropriate: What a day. This was a really tough senior season for Matias. It began with a groin injury that took 7 weeks to rehab. Hours in PT, at the gym, sport massage, ultrasound therapy, and hours and hours of “what ifs.” In the end this young man put in the time, the dedication, the endurance, and he not only made it work, he took 2nd place at Regionals and 3rd place at States…while breaking his High Schools pole vault record. We are extremely proud parents. I went to bed last night filled with joy while simultaneously tears washed down my face. That was his last high school track meet. Tuesday he graduates and life now looks different. Motherhood is so complicated. It’s crazy how you can have so much joy and excitement while feeling so much heartache and loss at the same time. I know he is going to have an amazing time at @fiu_jumps next year as a Panther. He is so excited to have an amazing track team to learn and grow with, but now part of my heart will live in Miami and I need to learn how to let go. To all the senior Moms, I’m thinking of you as the tears roll off onto my pillow. I know your hearts and I also know that we can do this. We’ve raised strong children into strong capable adults.
