@snapfilm0: The Lagoon Nebula, also known as Messier 8 or M8, is a giant interstellar cloud located in the constellation Sagittarius. It’s one of the few star-forming nebulae visible to the naked eye from Earth, lying approximately 4,000 to 6,000 light-years away. Size and Distance: The Lagoon Nebula is about 110 light-years across, making it one of the largest and brightest nebulae in our Milky Way galaxy. Star Formation: This nebula is an active stellar nursery, meaning it’s a place where new stars are being born from clouds of gas and dust. Visibility: You can see the Lagoon Nebula without a telescope from a dark location. It appears as a faint, glowing patch in the constellation Sagittarius. Clusters Inside: It contains a young open cluster of stars called NGC 6530, which helps illuminate the surrounding gas and makes the nebula glow. Color: The beautiful colors we see in images of the Lagoon Nebula come from different types of gases. Hydrogen emits a red glow, while oxygen can create blue-green hues, especially when viewed through a telescope with special filters. #northernlights #sagittarius #constilation #nebula #funny #space #happy #tiktok #like #star #sun #photooftheday @CELESTRON Content @High Point Scientific
