I had an 02 Chevy Avalanche. Used AC Delco 5w-30. Changed the oil when the truck notified me. Had over 300k when I sold it 7-8 years ago Still on the road as far as I know.

He should take apart and stretch out the media the first one would have more area to filter oil, I’ve use fram wix atlas cat manufacturer filters and never no problem changed 3-4 thousand miles
