This is under the assumption that lactate actually isn't metabolized in gluconeogenesis. Which in the real world happens to a quite significant degree.

Plasmalyte is also creeping into sepsis management because its ph is 7.4 but the problem is it’s new so not a lot of compatability studies.

LR is like 3rd choice, inferior to something ph balanced like Normosol or Plasmalyte. Definitely better than Saline
