The reason so many people think that is because BC actually stands for before Christ, but "amino domini" means "in the year of the Lord". So for some reason we use English for BC but then go back to Latin for AD.

i feel like we call AD after death because we’re not smart enough as people to have learned what anno domini meant ourselves… I always thought anno domini translated to after death for a while… I had heard of that word, and just assumed it meant after death….

I was taught anno domini was the technical term but our teacher told us after death would be easier for us to remember. All in all it’s just after Christ was born.

Thats so funny. I went to a public school and we learnt Anno Domini meant "In the Year of the lord"....I grew up Catholic and they also taught the same thing. This would be a Mandela effect for so many people 😂
