Als filtrierende Muschelart ist sie ein optimaler Besatz für den Teich / Gartenteich / Schwimmteich, oder das Kaltwasseraquarium. Sie kann dabei auch mit anderen friedlichen Fischen, Schnecken, Garnelen (im Kaltwasserbecken), und weiteren friedlichen Bewohnern vergesellschaftet werden.
