Our college dean said that Linear Algebra is a vocabulary class. Safe to say he was not a great professor in that subject. Rigor is important.

an important piece of context is which typw of students take the class in question(premeds, enginnering, math, first timers…) i got totally different experiences based on that with pre meds the worst

Back when I was a math minor, I would look through RMP for reviews like this. The best professors are fair, brilliant, and teach harder classes, I always got more out of it

Seem like a good professor. Only thing I will say is students seeing your notes (what you think is super important) is a lot easier to learn than reading through an entire textbook

Grade inflation really makes it hard to have meaningful and challenging classes. If level is such that everyone can get an A, then it cannot be a truly challenging class

I feel like in 2024 you should record lectures and post lecture notes. It can be difficult for students to catch up if they have legitimate reasons to miss (covid, conference, job fair etc.)
