O Pen A poem I wrote when I was in the ninth grade, carrying within it many emotions. I wrote this poem on a night that was full of life, followed by a heavy silence. The night kept me awake, and I was overcome by emotions that found their way into the words of this poem. I hope you enjoy it, and that the emotions it has carried with it since that time reach you as well. This piece presents the poem through a blend of rap, hip-hop, and R&B, with a somber tone that matches the emotion of the words. A note: I am not usually drawn to sad melodies, nor am I a fan of gloomy songs or nasheeds. But when a melody becomes one with the words and gives them the emotion they truly deserve, I find it difficult to resist the beauty of that combination or the effect it leaves behind.
