@principal_lamb: Here are 3 pitfalls I made as a novice administrator and what I do differently now. 1. As a novice administrator, I didn’t follow through with student consequences. These days, I make sure our team follows through with student accountability. 2. I sent whole school emails that were mainly directed to 1 or 2 people. Today I avoid being passive aggressive. I have face-to-face conversations when they are needed. 3. As a novice administrator I lacked confidence and backed down to parents. Today, I listen to our parents, but I’m okay with knowing that there will be times when parents don’t agree with the decisions I make. My experience as a school leader has been trial and error.
