Strawberry Tanghulu 🍓  Traditionally the OG ones are made with shānzhā (山楂) aka hawthorn berries, but I have no idea where to get them… plus strawberries are so cheap right now!  … BUT take my word when I say this is the last time I’ll ever be making this 🙃 Truly a nightmare recipe. It seems simple enough but it’s easy to under or overcook the syrup, esp if you don’t have a food thermometer. Plus the candied shell literally lasts 10 minutes. If you put it into the fridge it will melt down. Plus the clean up sucks. If you still want to try it after hearing this, I’ll pop this headache of a recipe below 🙏🏼💫✨  Ingredients 1 punnet strawberries 1 cup white sugar 2 cups water Method 1. Cut off the stems of the strawberries. Wash well and pat dry. Add 3-5 onto a wooden skewer and repeat.  2. In a saucepan or small frypan, combine the sugar and the water and bring to a boil. DO NOT stir it!!!!!!  3. In the meantime prepare a large bowl of ice water on the side, preferably right before the syrup is almost done.  4. Once the sugar mixture becomes very lightly golden (NOT SUPER GOLDEN OR BROWN PLS it’s burnt and you’ve failed), turn off the heat. 5. Dip in your strawberries in, turning to coat evenly. BE QUICK cos this syrup seizes up and hardens in 0.00001 seconds! What a delight!  6. Immediately dunk into your ice water bowl and place onto a plate or tray lined with a baking sheet.
