In Tel Aviv they transformed an old railway route (that was parking lots for a long time) to a beautiful park(pedestrian highway 😃) They set restaurants, ice cream parlours and cafes along it It connect the eastern neighbourhoods to the sea.

I agree! This & the NJ side across the river both need bars, restaurants, etc along the waterfront. Both are affluent areas so business would thrive

15 years ago it was dilapidated old elevated rail line that was falling apart and people often wondered up to, creating safety hazards. Would have cost millions to dismantle so they invested in making it urban trail park instead.

Manhattan is not all of New York. Manhattan is basically a financial borough. You should go out to the other 4 much larger boroughs to see more stuff like this.
