I do have kids two in fact 5 and 10 and my 10 year old brings me home packet after packet that's unfinished. I'm working 40 to 50 hours a week then coming home and teaching my kids math then throwing

Many states also require masters degrees, but then we don't make enough to pay for it. I even commuted all of my years for college, but it's still so much debt. Love my job but ugh 😭

It’s not that easy though to be fair. Tax payers in a district get that burden. Increase? Yes. I’m sure citizens be ok with some higher taxes, but 100k type money? Not sure that’ll fly.

Wake up at 5, go to work, make copies for my strenuously detailed lesson plans, act as a mentor, role model, and sometimes mother to these kids, 1/2

I’m a parent stay at home mom my “job” is i am a private chef. I started subbing in my kids school for fun and i fell in love!! My kids spend more time with there teaches then me. They learn so much!!

NYS teachers have to have a master’s degree, but we don’t get paid like we have a master’s.

Hell I’m a device manager/tech resource in addition to teaching music. I’m in charge of every Chromebook, laptop, desktop. Keeping them up to date, surplusing old ones, etc. get $0 extra

without teachers, there would be no doctors, scientists, artists, engineers, etc. without teachers, most ppl would be illiterate. teaching is one of the most important professions in a democracy!!!

It’s crazy how every single person in the USA has gotten where they are because of a teacher, but somehow we are still undervalued & underpaid. It’s because it’s a dominated female field. It sucks.

There’s a reason the countries with the best education have the best teachers. The pay is higher, teachers are highly respected, and education is so hard to get into for college!

There have been studies done in other countries. The more a teacher makes, the more respect they get from society and students. It also means they have more education than a bachelors as the minimum

I never met a teacher making six figures and I live in the north east where pay is higher. The teachers I work with in elementary make 57k. As a para I make 23k.

Sadly, people generally think we are just babysitters, and public school is free daycare. I would fully support subbing being like jury duty, so they can experience our field.
