Try Naples, you can get get a boat to Capri, train to Pompeii, Sorento and a bus ride from there to Positano, I just came back, bellisimo!

My Italy advice is 1) remember that they practice siesta so manage your time accordingly taking a train at the wrong time can lead to hungry bellies until stuff opens again at 6 or 7pm
