@jeff_coachyouradhdbrain: One very frustrating part of having ADHD is being caught in the paralysis that comes with overwhelm. Learning that there are ways to sometimes break out of that paralysis can be extremely helpful. Comment with other ideas that have worked for you. #challenges #overwhelm #adhdparalysis #advice

My problem is, that I can find 3000 things I can do outside that are not necessary productive. And once I’m back inside, I’m so exhausted, I can’t do the things I need too.😂😭

so true! if I need to get things done at home after work, I keep that movement going into the next task. if I stop, I have a difficult time starting again.

This is great, I love the walk idea to change your response. My problem is that I inevitably have a Teams msg or email waiting to derail me.

I love this! Something my counselor imparted on me: minimum achievable task. Figure out the smallest thing you can accomplish, and do that. Just that small task can jumpstart your task momentum.

moving/exercise is also a task and is in the to-do list 😔 what helps me while couchsurfing is meditating, getting in a positive mindset. and than do one small thing indeed 🧡

People say that all the time just pick one thing at a time just break it down into steps, but like I get lost in the details and you don’t understand like my OCD gets in the way as well where I literally once I start getting overwhelmed, I can either get so engulfed in things so panicked or turn to picking up my face for hours and then I just feel defeated again like I just can’t do it

OK, this is great but it feels like for me. Everything triggers this my bank account my past work that I could be doing now getting a new job Court matters coparenting matters any kind of relationship. It just goes on and on my make up routine even can get to a point where I get so overwhelmed with too many steps and I feel like it’s almost like CPTSD with everything at this point like I just don’t trust myself to remember what place I’m at or be able to keep track of time in a way that doesn’t ruin everything else that I’m not doing in that moment that I may be forgetting about. So what I’m trying to say is, I’m really good at diverting my attention and doing something that soothe me. I’m really good at it but then the whole day goes by and the second I try to do it again. It happens again and I feel like people think it’s an excuse and I don’t know where to turn anymore. What to change but you’re right it feels physically impossible at times to handle the extreme panic, depression, etc. if you take Medicaid and can do a virtual appointment, I would really love some help. I don’t know what to do with this point and it’s kind of bigger than I can explain here. Things have been piling up for several years and I feel so unworthy and regulated and my executive functioning skills just aren’t there. I really need help building up self efficacy and prioritizing information. I don’t even know how to summarize things. Clearly I get overwhelmed trying to explain things and people to now.

Like just for example being self-employed and doing taxes were OK for a while but then when the pandemic and shit happens, it felt too hard and then I let all the years pile up so you say start with one step in absolutely there’s a first step but I start going through steps I think of more steps and I’m like oh shit how did I forget about this then I need this then I forget that password. There’s so many details in the numbers that I sometimes miss Wright information or Miss remember things like I genuinely don’t mean to I’ll be writing out things and it’s like I have dyscalculia or Gracia or dyslexia or something that people don’t believe and so I write numbers and letters wrong and then I get frustrated. Forget where I’m at and it just feels like the most mentally taxing thing over and over again where I don’t even know where to start don’t want to because I get overwhelmed like I feel like I need a caretaker, but I fucking burden everyone
