@chaptersofemily_: 📕📚 Bookbinding 101! 📚📕 I have had a lot of people reaching out to me in my DMs asking about resources for learning to rebind books - so I figured I would start a tutorial series! Here are the basics you need to get started on your bookbinding journey! For your basic materials, you’ll need - Either book cloth or a substitute, like leather. I frequently use this vinyl faux leather for patching up couches because it is sticky as all heck and I love the end result. - You will need ribbon if you want to add a bookmark, which I loooove to do - When you’re making the text block, you’ll need headbands and endbands, as well as mull for the spine - You can use special endpapers or regular cardstock for scrapbooking - which is what I always use - And you’ll need to grab some chipboard that you will cut to size for your hard covers In terms of the tools, you will need: - PVA glue - Bone folders - Bookbinding spacers - I got these ones from a maker on Etsy, and they’re 3D printed in a few different sizes for you. - Silicone brushes Now for your cover designs - You will need vinyl or an alternative (like foil or ink). I almost always use the Cricut brand gold foil because I find it works the best for me. - If you’d like to do detailed cut-out designs like the ones I do, you will need also need a cutting machine like a Cricut. I have the maker 3, but the smaller sized machines will work fine too! There are a few other more particular items, but those are the basics, guys!
