as a retail manager, yes the young kids follow the register, if you don't hand it to them before they type it in, they will give you what the register says

if you give me change after i’ve already started counting then you just completely threw me off and i have to restart my train of thinking on top of being put on the spot … so of course im gonna panic and blank out . why didn’t u hand it to me in the first place knowing u had the change and knowing the register tells me what to give back for the exact reasoning of me not having to do the math 😂 it has nothing to do with not knowing math and more so having to rethink quickly while under pressure

We can’t do this after $ is typed in. Talk to my manager and explain to them why the till is under 😂they acuse us of stealing . It adds up quickly when everyone does this

If you’re going to do that then do it from the start, don’t wait until after the fact when they already entered what you gave them otherwise just take your change and go.

I give back change biggest to smallest. if their change is supposed to be $16.39, they're getting a 10, a 5, a 1, a quarter, a dime and 4 pennies.✌🏼 ;
