![To be a muslim..- in order for people to obey Allah’s orders and to avoid His prohibitions, there are conditions; they have to be a “Mukallaf”. A Mukallaf is a person who is alive, free, sane (“Aqil”), an adult/mature Muslim [has reached puberty] (“Baligh”), and possessed of full legal capacity [of performing required ritual actions] (“Ahliyyat”) ; and thus they are obligated to perform the general religious islamic duties. (lon Najjar, Al-Kaukab al-Munir 1/338) So basically there are no responsibilities [like having to do salah 5 times a day, fast on ramadhan, going to hajj, etc; even just basically having to fulfill the rights of human beings and not to do injustice & forbidden things, such as lying, cheating, drinking, etc] for the people who are insane, or mentally retarded and such, because; they are not capable to fully comprehend or perceive ‘em. And also none for the children who have not come of age too. If these types/kinds of people do not perform the duties obligated upon Mukallaf, they will not be accountable or responsible on the Day of Judgement. This is also why animals and other creatures as such aren’t obligated to fulfill Allah’s rules. Islam ennobles the mind. The only way people/humans can truly search and find/have a firm faith in Islam/in Allah; is by thinking and do some research. For someone who had experienced many confusing events like me, this gave me some kind of enlightenment.
