Front steps was Always called a bridge where I’m from and back deck was called the patio

We had a patio, where we relaxed with no steps. Then we had the "bridge" def (verb) be a bridge over (something).

Back bridge by water, front step (small step) wrap around or whole side or seating it’s a patio, anything on it like BBQ/hot-tub it’s a deck 😂😂😂😂😂

When I was growing up in Grand Falls any wooden structure bigger the steps directly attached to the house was a bridge.

front of the house, no bbq or table, its a bridge. side or back of house and a BBQ, table, or furniture, it's a deck.

Always called it a bridge because it bridges the gap between two points such as the front door and the walk way. No different than connecting any 2 pieces of land or obstacles to make it accessible.
