The superficial small talks here in the US I can’t,looks like literally robotic to me, if I say something I mean it and as a Latina I noticed that my emotions scare them,like they hide their emotions.

conversely, Americans find the lack of interaction abroad unfriendly. One actually has a chance to make friends as a newcomer in the USA without jumping through hoops indefinitely.

It’s supposed to be a quick check. If someone were to answer not well or so-so. Then we most people would actually stop and ask to elaborate. I think it’s just our way to be polite and quick.

I’m an American who always says, ‘hi, how are you?’. Few people actually give a detailed answer but I’d like it if they did! Some do. Most will respond to ‘how is your day going’ with a real answer.
