Also alot of vehicles have a rubber sleeve on the inboard end of pin. That gets destroyed when you have to heat. So just get A new boot kit anyway

sometimes I would just heat the bracket from the front and it would shoot the slide pin out like a bottle rocket

I have had some pretty stuck slide pins but usually just use a screwdriver and hammer, but I also work in the south. Judging by minimal rust, you're southern based too?

You can also remove the boot over the head of the pin depending on the size of course but I've done it a few times.
