just be careful because cooking oils will degrade and go rancid and you do NOT want your painting to smell like stale oil lol

As someone who works in an art store, please don’t be surprised when your paintings don’t dry or crack or yellow overtime 😭

I use regular paint thinner, it comes in a big bottle for like 6 dollars at Walmart. it works really good and only takes a week or two to dry.

Can I just use linseed oil for oil paints and skip gamsol? I’m afraid of using toxic products and don’t want to go through the hassle of ventilation in my bedroom

No bcz I once used almond oil back when I was new to oil paint since I thought I could use any type of oil and it actually dried😭 I later on realized that it was actually not supposed to dry

You might want to use a lighter oil like canola so it dries faster

Linseed oil and walnut oil have a drying agent that allows them to oxidize and dry, olive oil doesn’t and will never properly dry
