Don’t use a pick use your fingers it’s a lot more easier once you learn as songs get more hard and it’s easier to keep a the same bass line with many fingers than just a pick

i still remember my first time playing! keep up the good work, the song I can recommend as a good start is Feel Good Inc, pretty easy, yet let's you feel the bass

Hi I play bass as well no playing with a pick is a preference but I use my hand also try learning a song like feel good inc so you can learn tempo and well as not to slide and use all your finger
