WHY you’re BREAKING OUT ⚠️ explanations⬇️ 🥣 SKIPPING BREAKFAST A high protein breakfast within the first hour of waking should be the PRIORITY to support cortisol & blood sugar levels, to not further drive inflammation - remember, acne is an inflammatory skin condition. ⛔️ PURGING Exfoliants increase skin cell turnover - aka breakouts come out faster. To reduce purging, lower the frequency of your exfoliant or use the sandwich method! It is totally normal to purge & it lasts a couple of months at most! 🥬 FIBRE Upping my fibre was game-changing for me!! To get rid of excess hormones/toxins (which hugely contribute to acne), you HAVE TO go to the toilet (1-3x a day). And to do this, you NEED fibre. 💤 SLEEP Sleep is the most important thing to relieve inflammation. Try to make sure it’s uninterrupted & you have a consistent sleep schedule! 🫧 EXFOLIATION Over-exfoliation can break down your skin’s barrier and lead to MORE breakouts! Skin barrier health is SO important for preventing breakouts. Exfoliate max 3x a week! 🏋🏼‍♀️ WORKOUT INTENSITY Women have 4 cycle phases: menstrual, follicular, ovulatory & luteal. Due to hormone changes, in some stages, we are more sensitive to stress (which high-impact training triggers). 🏃🏼‍♀️Best time for high-impact: follicular & ovulatory. 🧘🏼‍♀️Best time for low-impact: luteal & menstrual. 🧼 POST WORKOUT CLEANSE
I cleanse once a day (evening), BUT if you work out in the morning (& sweat), you MUST clean your skin (only a water-based single cleanse is necessary). If you can’t cleanse immediately, use hypochlorous acid - it reduces acne-causing bacteria!
