I had such a hard time producing milk with my first baby and had almost immediate PPD. With my second I felt like I was doing so well, but with her in the NICU I was skipping pain meds to be awake enough to be with her for more than an hour or two at a time. Then, I wasn’t able to sleep because I was in so much pain. Two days PP I wasn’t able to get anything after pumping. My husband asked me if I was okay and this is the message I sent him. Now, I have a mini fridge’s freezer almost full of breast milk. Today someone told me I was lucky to be producing enough and then some. But, I’m still skipping pain meds, forgetting to eat, re-opened my c-section incision, and had to switch antibiotics due to a drop in supply and mastitis. Parenting is hard. Everyone deserves grace.
