I already had 2 boys and 2 girls so it didn't occur to me that I'd even have a preference. It was something that really messed with my head, it wasn't a choice, I was really shocked to experience it.

I came out to my extended family last Christmas and was shocked at the amount of support- it may have been rough with my mum but I got that celebratory reaction with them instead of disappointment

The only reason I'd have any reaction like that is if I'd guessed and been wrong cause I'm competitive and don't like being wrong and I'd be mad at myself for being wrong.

absolutely agree. It's so frustrating to have expectations placed on you based on your gender. I wish my parents could have had an open mind about who I might grow up to be, so that me being myself wouldn't inherently be disappointing.

I have a hard time with people caring so much about the sex of their children because when I talk to people about why they want a girl or boy their reasons are ridiculous.

As a lesbian couple with no experience with men - it was scary to hear “it’s a boy” but we got over it. Potty training might be interesting though 😅
