My tote is open at the top (i.e., no zipper on the top edge. While part of it is protected by my underarm, the rest seems pretty vulnerable. Would like to see your tote(s).

My sister’s bag attempted to be cut on the metro. Her bag was reinforced and the guy panicked and jumped off at next stop.

I always use a cross body back and I always have it in front of me and the zip closed. The tote is not efficient to hold it all day long while sightseeing.

I‘m not sure, but maybe they meant pickpockets cutting into the side of the tote to reach inside. It’s a quiet way to gain access to someone’s bag if you have a small sharp knife.
