@chrislovesjulia: A few years back, in our Idaho home, we did a kitchen renovation for just around $1200. One of the biggest money savers in this project was working around the existing granite counter tops. We were able to completely transform the space by rearranging the cabinets, adding tongue and groove paneling, painting everything the same moody green paint color (Thunderous by @sherwinwilliams), and switching out the hardware.
