I keep 12 hens per rooster. I have 24 girls and 2 Roos. Judy has to have a saddle though, she's both boys' favorite, and she doesn't even lay anymore 😭

Roosters really vary too. Some are terrible others are gentlemen. If we had issues with a rooster he went to the pot 😐

We once had a guy tell us we should leave the ram with the sheep full time bc they know how to plan their reproduction and won't mate with relatives😂

What do you think about a rooster Flock - keeping separate from hens & selective breeding them w/ specific hens ? I'm thinking of doing this . I have 2 roos & 9 hens .

We usually stick to the 11 to 13 hens for our rooster, tho we’re very picky about our roosters we’ve never had a human/hen aggressive rooster

my friend ended up doing what she calls a bachelor flock. cause she hatched so many roosters compared to hens one year. they all get along great. and then her other 2 flocks are I think 12 hens 1 roo
