@tim.osterhus: For some people, dips certainly aggravate their shoulders and cause discomfort. Creating a sweeping statement and generalizing their situation as a hard and fast rule, however, is grossly incorrect, as a single exception proves that it isn’t true. If you can, and feel comfortable with it, it’s usually a good idea to go deeper with your dips. Go deeper with any lift, for that matter. A bigger range of motion tends to be better. And yes—that’s 90lb between my legs. It’s my standard working set whenever I return to weighted dips after a while. I think it’s time to crank that up to 135lb over the summer.
