@heritageironmag: #TractorTuesday BIG ROY: 🚜 eight-wheel-drive on four axles 💪 600 hp 😳 weighing nearly 30 tons Designed and built as the Model 1080 in 1977, this famous tractor came to be known as Big Roy in honor of Roy Robinson, Versatile's co-founder. But, Versatile ultimately decided to cancel the Big Roy program after building only one prototype. This was partly due to soaring development costs and the fact no implements were big enough to challenge its pulling power. A full restoration was completed by the Versatile Research and Development team in June 2016 ahead of the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
