@nursewhoinvests: Coming from a long weekend, being off on holidays and weekends and being able to go home early today for my daughters bday- being a nurse practitioner has been one of the best investments i made for my career. If youre a np, was it worth it for you?
I’m shocked what some of my NP friends make. Leadership and CRNA can pay tho….

Colorado NP. Our pay is horrible. Full practice state and oversaturated so employers underpay

My first job as an NP I was making 200k a year (60k more than as an RN) and I own my own clinic now and make nearly a 7 figure income. Becoming an NP was the best thing for me.

👏 well said, from RN to NP now, I am making about 1k more per paycheck but now I’m working days instead of nights; I work 3 shifts per week 11 hours per day. No weekends and no holidays 😍🫡

I make about 60K more per year than my NP’s at work in management. We work the same hours/holidays

I make more as an NP than my husband does working ICU as an RN on weekend special. Guess it depends on the state and health care system??

I thought about np, but I’m already making as much as they do with almost none of the liabilities or debt.

I love that someone finally identifies that there may be a pay gap but definitely a scope and work content change that is more appealing than bedside and traveling for the $$

I think it depends on you what company you work for. I make more than 2x my RN salary with no weekends or call. And only 2 years NP experience.

Does this apply to psych nps? I’ve heard completely different stories

💯 agree. I still have charts and work to do at home so per hour I certainly make less.

We need both RN’s and NP’s. I think it comes down to what fits your needs better ❤️but NP’s shouldddd make more imo

I’m not sure where all these NP’s are I’m in Fl and my salary is wayyy more than my RN pay! I make over 150, that’s no OT, night shift etc, off on weekends!

i just dont think its true that RNs make more... if your comparing RN to NP in the (same location) then the NP base salary should be either at the top of the RN pay scale or higher from what ive seen.

I make less as an NP than I did as an RN, but I used to work every weekend ans many holidays. Now, I see pts when I am available and I’m not at work if I don’t have pts.

I agree with my first starting job as an NP I made nearly 60K more than I did as an RN, no weekends and no on call. Holidays and 14 days PTO. Good work environment as well. Best thing I did.

We start off higher but a RN can exceed us depending on hours / speciality
