Yes, it’s okay to “try again tomorrow” if they don’t get it right away. But what happens when they go into 5th or 6th grade with no ability to read fluently, write a structured paragraph, etc.?

my daughter is 15 and I just signed her out of school for homeschooling..no more rushing in the morning etc..less stressful and she's still getting her education

@Bear: There’s a certain science behind language arts and math. Language acquisition is between 5-7, if they are taught later they might be missing a huge chunk in their tool box. Just a heads up.

The same was true of mine and potty training. Her pre-k teachers kept telling me she's not ready, when she's ready she will let you know and it will come quick and it did. Literally over night.

Teacher here…what studies are you speaking of? Your 7 year old should be learning to write paragraphs, phonics skills, math skills, that are all foundational skills that will be needed to build upon.
