My husbands grandmother came to Kansas on the orphan train. She was adopted by a good family who all considered her part of the family. She had a good life.

My great-grandpa was on one of those trains. Worked long hours on a farm in PN. Slept on logs in the barn even in winter. No school. Mom had post-partum & died 4 years later in NY mental & dad drunk.
