@nobudgetbabe: If you think the government plans to make housing affordable, think again. The Canadian prime Minister Justin Trudeau just said the quiet part out loud. He said "housing needs to be more affordable, but lowering home prices would put retirement plans at risk". Basically alluding that boomers need millennials and Gen z to pay inflated home prices and struggle financially so the boomers can retire. So basically he's okay screwing over the younger generation to make sure the older generation can get away with poor financial planning. This is why I keep saying what worked for your parents is not going to work for you. We are living in a completely different world now, and "traditional advice" about how to succeed like just get a degree, work your 9-5, buy a house and everything will fall into place is wrong. Our generation will not get ahead like that. Simply saving money or buying any house is not going to make you rich. I realized this after I started following the path in my 20s, but was just living paycheck to paycheck in $40k debt feeling like I was falling behind.
